Wake Forest is a town of almost 40,000 residents just north east of the capital city Raleigh, North Carolina. Carroll Joyner Park is the towns largest park and covers 117 acres it was opened in 2009. There are 3 miles of paved walking and biking trails. A former farm some of the features are the original restored farm buildings such as a mule barn, tobacco barn and log cabin. A pecan grove planted during the Great Depression, a 1,000 lawn seat amphitheater which hosts the Six Sundays in Spring concert series, a performance garden that holds about 150 people which can be rented out for small performances, workshops etc. There are charcoal grills available and bank fishing at the pond. The town currently has 8 miles of developed and 50 miles of undeveloped greenways with more planned eventually connecting to the Wake County Greenway System.

Historic Wake Forest
The town has three historic districts listed with the National Register of Historic Places and you can pick up a walking tour guide at the town hall 301 S. Brooks St. The Downtown Wake Forest Historic District is a charming place to visit with many different shops and business’s in buildings dating back to the last 19th century. The Glen Royall Mill Village Historic District was built to house the workers for the Royall Cotton Mill between 1900 and 1949. The Wake Forest Historic District covers the original campus and many historic homes of different architecture built from around 1840
