Durham is a city in North Carolina famously know as either the “City of Medicine or “Bull City. The City is home to Research Triangle Park which in turn is home to 200 companies and 50,000 employees. The Durham Bulls were formed in 1902 and at that time were called the Durham Tobacconists, they played their first game as the Bulls on April 24 1913 in the newly formed North Carolina State League. The team now plays in the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in the heart of the American Tobacco District. In 2013 a massive renovation project was undertaken turning the stadium into a spectacular place to watch baseball or hold an event. The team was made famous in 1988 with the release of the movie Bull Durham.
DPAC opened in 2008 and is now the number 4 ranked theater in the United States. The theater is regularly in the top 5 Pollstar magazine annual worldwide theater attendance rankings. Attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to town with over 200 performances each year. Three out of four DPAC guests come from outside the city. Performances include touring Broadway productions, comedy and musical events and the American Dance Festival.
American Tobacco District
The American Tobacco District is a multi use facility comprising DPAC, Bulls Athletic Park, American Underground, restaurants, apartments and galleries. The former American Tobacco warehouses and buildings preserved and put to use by cutting edge technology companies, corporate offices, artists and more. With the success of the district the city is seeing more commercial, retail and residential development as people looking for an urban lifestyle close to work, entertainment and culture.

The Eno River State Park is only 10 miles from downtown and is a great place to take a leisurely hike, take a canoe ride or fish in the Eno River.Camp sites are available for overnight stays as well. The Sara P. Duke Gardens are considered to be one of the most popular public gardens in the U.S. They are open 365 days a year and admission is free.
